With the Seagate Global Access service, you can securely access files. Where do I go on the Mac to add myself to this workgroup? I believe that I have to tell the Mac that I am in the same workgroup that is recognized by the PC and network drive. Recoverit Data Recovery is a powerful Seagate recovery software. But no shares are listed on this screen, not even the public folder, and I cannot add anything from this screen. I installed Seagate's Discovery software on the Mac, but launching it doesn't get me anywhere: the Seagate Black Armor Discovery screen comes up where I would expect to the see the name of the network shares, click a given share, and then click the Mount Share button. All I want to do from the Mac is to drag and drop files onto the network drive, over which I have complete control when used from the PC.
From the PC everything works OK (i.e., ability to set up and view shares, map a drive, connect to Seagate's Global Access Web site). These shares are on a Seagate Black Armor NAS drive connected to a router that also connects the Mac.
